Filling the Space to Revive Your Smile

Many patients living with missing teeth may prefer a non-invasive restorative solution, like a dental bridge or denture. However, if you want a treatment option that offers greater longevity, superior stability, and full root-to-crown replacement, there is no better option than dental implants in Haverhill. What are Dental Implants?
Dental implants are titanium posts that fuse with the jawbone to replace missing tooth roots, but they are also the foundational support that produces life-changing results. As the only root-to-crown restoration, implants help improve bone and facial stability with continuous stimulation. They also work in conjunction with lifelike restorations to rebuild teeth and effectively fill in the gaps in your smile.
The 4 Step Dental Implant Process
Unlike more temporary tooth loss solutions such as dental bridges and dentures, getting dental implants requires a unique, multi-step process that spans several months. However, although this may seem like a long time, it is important to consider the long-term benefits of this treatment. At Bradford Dental Care, we’re pleased to provide the entire dental implant treatment right here in our office, instead of referring you to an outside specialist. While each treatment will look slightly different from patient to patient, there are four main steps you can expect to take along the way: the initial consultation, surgery, osseointegration, and the delivery of your final restoration.
Initial Dental Implant Consultation
At your initial consultation, your dentist will review your oral health and medical history to determine if you’re a good candidate for surgery. If necessary, we’ll work with you to complete any preliminary procedures like gum disease therapy, tooth extractions, or bone grafting. Then, once those are completed, we can move on to planning the rest of your dental implant treatment, including the timeline and cost.
Dental Implant Surgery
At Bradford Dental Care, we’re proud to complete the entire dental implant process in-house. This benefits the patient because you won’t need to drive from practice to practice or pay multiple parties for your care.
On the day of your dental implant surgery, your dentist will first numb your mouth and ensure that you are comfortable. Then, we will make a small incision in your gums, insert the dental implant, close the gums, and place protective caps on the posts.
Dental Implant Osseointegration & Abutment Placement
Over the next few months, your dental implant must permanently fuse with your jawbone via a process called osseointegration. This can take anywhere from three to six months but is extremely important in ensuring the success of your dental implants. Once completed, you will return to Bradford Dental Care to have your implant abutments placed. This requires another minor surgical procedure that should only take a few weeks to heal from. While you recover, your final restoration(s) will be crafted at the dental lab from impressions taken of your mouth during your consultation.
Delivery of Dental Implant Restorations
Finally, you’ll return to our office to have your restoration(s) placed. These may be in the form of a crown, denture, or dental bridge, depending on how many teeth you’re replacing. Before you leave, we’ll check to make sure your bite is comfortable, and if all looks and feels satisfactory, you’ll be ready to go enjoy your beautiful new smile!
